Aquatru Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Review
We’ve been in this game for a while; we remember when reverse osmosis was a hyper advanced type of water filter, only accessible to big companies for use in industrial practices.
Then came versions of it in an under-sink capacity, and now we’ve come to a place where it can be condensed (so to speak) into a countertop unit. Colour us surprised! But pleased.
So here we are.
This is our Aquatru Reverse Osmosis Water Filter review.
Here are the basic specs about this product. After you’ve checked it’s even the right type of thing you’re looking for, you can go on to check out the full breakdown.
Here, also, are specs on Amazon.

Rating the Aquatru Water Filter
You’ve seen the basics.
Now, let’s see where it performed well, and where it didn’t.
Aquatru Reverse Osmosis System
Pros and who needs this type of filter:
It is a true reverse osmosis filter
They have true (or at least ‘tru’) in their name. And yes, it does do proper reverse osmosis filtration. As we mentioned in the introduction, it’s a pretty new thing to get such a filter in a countertop water filter. We’ve written a ton on this site about reverse osmosis – let’s simply say it’s the best type of water filter there is; the one that is able to successfully remove extremely high percentages of even the most stubborn contaminants and rogue chemicals, the ones you really don’t want in your water. Such as PFOAs, PFOSs, arsenic, lead, chlorine and fluoride, among many, many more. Here’s a lot more on reverse osmosis and the best systems.
Long-lasting effectiveness
Some reverse osmosis water filters lose their filtration efficiency over time, but the Aqustru reverse osmosis system has a good reputation for keeping its efficacy over a multi-year lifespan.
Just stick it on the countertop ie. no installation/plumbing is required
For many people, this could actually be the killer feature. You don’t have to install it under the sink, messing around with your pipes, hoses, electrical system. Just stick it on your tabletop or countertop, that’s it.
The Filters are long-lasting
A key factor for many people is ease of use and convenience. Most people do not want to be faffing around, replacing a filter every few weeks. Each Aquatru filter has a 2300-4600L lifespan. Depending on your usage (of course) that could do you for 6 months to a year, and in some cases as much as 2 years before you need to replace it.
Cons and why this model is not for you:
You’ll likely have to replenish the water pretty often
For a household of 3 or 4 people and more, 2.7L is not going to last too long. Of course that depends on whether you just use it for drinking water or if you also want to cook with purified water. If you’re going to to use a water filter system for all your kitchen needs, an under-sink water filter system may meet your needs much better.
One more thing to bear in mind: the filtration isn’t instant. So when you refill the jug, it will take 12 to 15 minutes for the reverse osmosis filtration to do its thing before you can start to use the filtered water.
Uses up more countertop space than its countertop filter rival, the Skuma
Around 1050cm2 for the Aquatru, compared to 975cm2 for the Skuma. And it’s a couple of kilograms heavier. That said, bear in mind that the Aquatru is 10cm less in height. (By the way, if you want to check out the rival, here’s a Skuma water review).

Aquatru Countertop Reverse Osmosis System Summary
That, then, was our Aquatru water filter Review.
The most important determining factor for many people will be the filter quality, and we can confirm it’s a true reverse osmosis water filter, and test-proven to remove fully 83 pollutants by the American National Standards Institute NSF standards (an internationally accepted testing standard).
Crucial factors for some will be its strong filtering of PFOS/PFOAs and Fluoride.
What else to consider? A countertop dispenser like this is probably not the system for you if you have a large household that consumes water like a dam. Ditto if you plan to use your filtration system for all your household needs, not just for drinking water.
Otherwise, make sure you have enough space – it’s not the size of your run-of-the-mill countertop dispensers.

Good luck with your decision on the Aquatru filter system.
